Great news! After over a year of having my Pentax in the shop, never to be fixed apparently, I finally went out and got a fresh start with Nikon. I picked up a D7000 and a 50mm f/1.8 lens and once again I'm back in action.
When I purchased my Pentax K-r used in March 2012, right before my Italy trip, it had roughly 5000 clicks. Between then and 15 months later, June 2013 I amassed over 22,000 clicks (1467 clicks/mo! yikes). I may have had just a bad batch, but the shutterbox mechanism finally died and I took it to a man locally who was recommended to me. However fate was against me and the camera sat for months, he never worked on it, claimed Pentax didnt make the part anymore and told me he'd given up trying after a year so when I got it back, I decided to sell off all my Pentax gear (it was nice knowing you buddy), and put it towards the Nikon.
So far I've gotten some great shots, the D7000 is more in-line with the features that the K-r had, as opposed to the D5200 which I was using in the interim from my brother. I'll start getting some sorted and posted. Specifically the ones from a relatives wedding in Chicago.
Stay tuned!
